Napier Prison
Napier Prison Backpackers and Tours is at 55 Coote Road , on Bluff Hill, Napier

Built in 1862 and used until 1990, Napier prison has quite a reputation. Over the years it was used as a prison, an orphanage and a phychatric unit.
In it's history it housed many notorious prisoners. Most famous would probably be Kereopa Te Rau also known as the *eye-eater. For his part in the murder of Missionary Karl Volkner, Kereopa Te Rau was hanged in 1872. He was initally burried in the unconsecrated grounds of the prison but was at a later date dis-enturred and re-burried in a Maori cemetery.
During the period 1862 to 1900 there were 5 hangings at the prison.
Over the years people have reported ghostly sitings at the gaol, unexplained footsteps, disembodied faces hovering in the cells. Doors opening and closing all by them selves, and the ghost of murderer
Roland Edwards is said to appear on the anniversary of his execution.

*Kereopa Te Rau was notorious as a ‘Hau Hau’. He seemed to be high priest of the bloodbath proceedings, following Volkner’s hanging. He swallowed Volkner’s eyes, one for the Queen and one for the State. He choked on the second eye and he believed this was an omen leading to his downfall.

The entire killing of Volkner was drenched in hysteria, omens and rituals. Historian Judith Binney, in her customary role of Savanorola, always talks of Volkner’s death as an ‘execution’. Volkner was a ‘spy’ giving information to the government on hostile Maori forces. He was also a pious and somewhat naive German who thought he needed to get back to his flock, to help them through their latest bout of sickness. So it was slightly more mixed up - more human - than Binney makes out.

Also I kind of doubt that an ‘execution’ incorporated beheading, drinking of the blood of the dead man, the swallowing of his eyes and the contemptuous throwing of his corpse into a latrine to be eaten by dogs.

Gisborne Ghost

Hi i just stumbled across you’r sight and want to share a few things with you that i hope u might be able to help me with....
I was born 5/8/83 in gisborne newzealand.  When i was around 6 years old strange things started happening to me inside the home we were living in, i remember laying in bed asleep and waking up to someone sitting on the side of me bed looking down at me, the weird thing was that i knew it was a man even though i didnt see his face he looked real dotty and misty, i dont think i was scared i just looked at him got up and went into my parents room and told them there was a man on my bed, for some reason i wonder who he was as he didnt hurt me or scare me, he was jst there and no one close to me had died.  then a few months after that really weird stuff started happening, i would hear tapping noises on my window and no one would be there, my teddys would be in the cupboard and then when i woke in the morning they would be on my bed up by my flippin head, i remember as i got older me and my brother were asleep in my room and these black things kinda like small sheets were flying over us and into us, i remember we were so young and we jst held each other and screamed untill mum and dad came running in, i know they knew what was goin on but nothing would stop these things from scaring me.
Another time when i was about 9yrs old i remember waking up and feeling something on my chest, kinda like a hand putting pressure on me but nothing was there, i remember trying to scream out at the top of my lungs but it was coming out like a whisper like my screams were being blocked, was so so terrifying and remember every detail to this day.  Whatever this thing was went away when my grandfather died but there was something else that stayed something less scarey than the black sheet things. Could you please explain to me ( if you can ) what these things were and esspecially what that man was sitting up on the edge of my bed and what he could have wanted with me? these things have been on my mind for 20yrs and would love to know what you think they were. My parents saw what was happening to me but will not give me answers and refuse to talk about it.
It so annoys me the things that happened in that house when i was young, because of that i can sense spirits.
(Reply and posible explaination sent)

Ohakune Visitor
I was just returning to Auckland after spending 8 weeks living in Wanaka & snowboarding at the resorts there, when I decided  to spend a week riding Turoa ski field & staying in Ohakune. Due to the good snow the town was really busy & it was really hard to find accommodation. On the advice of a local I picked up the local paper & looked under the flat mates wanted section.
There was a room going for $50 per week so I rang the guy up & met him in town. He was a lawyer & he explained that the house was about 10 km out of town. That seemed alright to me so we drove out to the house.
Something seemed kind of strange about the house when I saw it for the first time. I couldn't put my finger on it but it just seemed kind of lonely sitting all by itself on top of a small hill. The owner let me in & then left to go back to town.
After unpacking all my gear I had a shower and sat down to watch some TV. By 9 pm I was feeling kind of tired so I headed for bed hoping to get a good nights sleep to prepare me for a solid day of riding. I fell asleep. During my sleep I had a dream that I was back in my caravan in Wanaka. All of a sudden the caravan tipped backwards with a loud metallic crashing sound, so loud that it woke me up..............................
I opened my eyes to find a figure pinning me to my bed. I freaked out.
Thinking it was the guy who owned the house, I closed my eyes and pushed as hard as I could to sit upright. When I opened them again the figure was standing at the foot of my bed. It was a male torso with no head or lower arms. It was wearing what looked like a flannel shirt & jeans. I was still freaking out so I threw a punch at the figure! My arm just went straight through it. I decided that the only way to make it leave was to pray it away. I shut my eyes & prayed a pathetic attempt at a prayer but when I opened them it was still there! Finally I got up & raced over to the light switch. When I turned it on the figure vanished.
I didn't know what to think. I didn't really believe in ghosts or spirits, but then what the hell was that? After about an hour I decided to go back to sleep.
When I look back it must of been out of shear bravado or total tiredness because there's no way I would have done that under normal circumstances.
I hopped into my sleeping bag & pulled the hood right over my head & finally fell back to sleep.
I woke up several times during the night to the sound of heavy breathing in the room. I didn't take a look, I didn't want to know. I just kept trying to go back to sleep. The final thing that woke me was the sound of the house owner pulling into the driveway early in the morning. I was there alone the whole time.
The next day I got up & headed up the mountain to try to clear my head.
After a few hours I came to the easy conclusion that there was no way I was gonna spend another night in the house. I went back, packed up all my gear and told the owner I was leaving to go back to Auckland. I told him some stupid excuse, I didn't tell him what I had seen. I didn't want to know.

Skotel Alpine Resort

I also spoke to people who worked in two different hotels who mentioned having worked at the Skotel Alpine Resort in Whakapapa Village near Mount Ruapehu. They stated that it was “definitely haunted.” Once a mental institution, it is said to have two very different ghosts. One, who used to be a doctor there is said to be very mean and shut doors and do things to scare people, while the other is said to be a friendly ghost. I was unfortunately unable to visit one other hotel.
New Zealand is a land of great beauty, charm and warm hospitality. You may, or may not, meet any ghosts there. However, even if you don’t run into any interesting discarnate entities, you are sure to encounter enough friendly incarnate ones to enjoy your stay.

Subject: Ghost Story - Where's those papers?
Where's Those Papers?
A while ago I landed a job working as a PA for the Business Manager of a Design company my brother also worked for. I never really noticed at first but strange things happened in our office.
I noticed that things would go missing, and every now and then a foul odour would engulf the whole room. It smelt of fish, stink feet and dirty old clothes.
There was always alot of tension in the workplace aswell.
One evening just before leaving to go home, I was talking to my brother about a client who required something or other. It was just us two in the Office and the smell just appeared out of nowhere, that's when we heard a slow yet creepy voice say "Where's those Papers?
Right in front of us we saw a apparition of a overly large woman wearing a T-shirt, and what appeared to be trackpants and high heels. Reaching out to us looking scared and mournful, again she repeated "Where's those papers?
The figure turned, glanced at the door, glanced back at us with what appeared to be the look of fear in her eyes then said "Quickly, she's coming".
In the blink of an eye, she was gone.
Needless to say me and my brother didn't stick around to try and find those papers, we got out of there as fast as we could. We no longer work for that Company and unfortunately the Company is now no more. The residence seems to be abandoned.
I often wonder if she ever did find those papers, and who or what she was actually scared of.
The answer to the biggest question I want to know is "What the hell was she thinking wearing high heels with a T-shirt and trackpants? :)
As far fetched as the above story may seem to some, I state that it is truthful and factual.
I have had various encounters with the unexplained, and I am more than willing to share them in the future.

Phantom Canoe  (Waka) 1886
On may 31st 1886 a group of tourists traveling on lake Tarawere were upset and frightened by a sudden disturbance and swell in the lake waters. The waters soon settled and they traveled on to the Pink and White Terraces.
As they journeyed across the lake a maori canoe was seen in the distance, traveling parallel to them toward Mt Tarawera.
The maori crew of the tourist boat became very agitated as there had never been a Waka on Lake Tarawera.
Later at Te Wairoa maori elders and tohunga were disturbed by the stories of the ghostly canoe.
They felt it was an ancestral omen to change their ways before a great evil befell them.
11 days later the volcano in Mount Tarawera blew up and destroyed forever the Pink and White Terraces.

The phantom Maori canoe (waka) appeared on Lake Tarawera just before a nearby volcano erupts.

There are many strange tales of ghostly Waka (canoes) being rowed across lakes and rivers only to disappear into the mist. Or of Maori warriors appearing at the sites of ancient Pa's. Maori legends are filled with ghosts, apparitions and strange paranormal activity. I hope to add some of these great tales.

Waitomo Caves Hotel
High on a hilltop, as you drive into the Waikato caves area, is a rather picturesque building. It draws you towards it, with its breathtaking proximity to a cliff, which overlooks the part of town where the caves are situated. My sister, Brenda and I, drove into this area nearing sunset, this past April. With no hotel reservations.
We are from Canada and felt this part of our trip would be rather adventurous with no itinerary set for the 1-2 days we would be in the area.
We were now concerned with finding a hotel/motel, or any accommodation for the evening. We decided to try the winding road up to the top of the mountain to see if anything was available. After a rather rigorous drive upward, the road narrowed as we came precariously close to the edge of the cliff. Once up top the view was incredible! We were captivated by the building as we drew even closer. We were both taken with the grounds. It was magnificent! The hotel concierge showed us one of their 'best' rooms...
We thought it over, and for one night it would suffice. So we checked in...
This is where events must be relayed as each episode is strange. Even more so in hindsight.
My sister decided that a nap was in order before dinner and I wanted to take some snaps of the place outside as the sun was setting. I did not see her again until about an hour later, after tramping round trails and cliffs with my camera. I had been wearing the cheapest of sandals for the drive in and in traversing around the grounds had developed blisters and sore feet.
(This was utmost in my mind as I made my way back to our room)
Our room is on the 2nd floor, room # 12b. I found my sister lying on her single bed and remarked how she given me the bed closest to the wall and I felt 'uncomfortable'.
As mentioned, my feet were sore and I slipped into my sister's shoes as they were right next to my bed and facing my bed. My feet felt better.
I went to empty my film as I had taken 36 exposures...opened my camera and there was no film inside! All that time. All those shots and no film! I am a photographer and have never ever made this mistake before! Resting for a moment...inserting a fresh roll into camera I insist that I must head outside again this time with film in my camera and proceed to take more photos using my sisters shoes which were in front of my bed.
A 2nd time I return to room 12b and Brenda comments that if I keep knocking down the garbage bin between the two beds, rather than to keep picking it up she will move it over by the dresser so it is out of the way.
We decide to try out the buffet in the hotel...we are the only 2 in there....hmmm....
We headed into the dining room to have Dinner. We were seated by a rather large window, and both felt the 'presence' of someone or something watching us from outside in the darkness. The air round the hotel had grown rather heavy and there wasn’t the slightest breeze when we headed out for an evening down the hill to mix with the locals and see a live band playing there.
As mentioned, there was no breeze at all so we should have been able to hear the commotion from the establishment down below, but all we heard was a screeching 'owwwwww' coming from the darkness. We knew it was an animal of some sort.
But never the likes of what we heard coming from the darkness.
In order to arrive at the bar at the bottom of the hill, you could walk the long way round, down the hill that we drove up on, or you could choose to head down a steep path which had steps you could almost 'see' in the darkness. The path, was lit along by ancient lamp-posts. This did not help to ease the feeling that if something were in the woods, hiding, it could see us but we could not see it! The moaning noises from the animal grew louder still as we made our descent. We took out our pocket knives and felt we would be ready if anything jumped out at us.
The air cleared and we felt we had earned us a drink or two. I knew I'd have to be 'half in the bag' if I wanted to get any sleep at all. Once inside the bar, We knew we were being looked at as 'outsiders' as the place was filled with locals. We stood out like a sore thumb. The music was good and the drinks were better so we stayed a while. My sister felt uncomfortable and decided it was time to leave. Again, that moaning was evident and we were heading directly towards it! Alas, we saw that they had caged some sort of a moose.? Our hearts eased a little as we saw was behind a very high fence yet at the same time sank as this animal was in captivity in such a dark, dark area. The path back up unfolded without incident. My sister speedily flew up the path and I had to rush to keep from falling behind. That feeling was back however...stronger than ever that we were being watched.
We headed into our room and rather tipsy by this time, flung off our shoes and jackets sporadically round the room. ( We are not know for our neatness, plus we were on vacation!!) We got ready for bed and I was dreading sleeping in the bed near the wall. At this point, I don’t know if it was because we had changed into our 'pajamas' or the night air had cooled things off considerably, but I felt very cold. We did not dare have the window open as we had found a spider in the room earlier and were scared to death we would encounter the rare venomous spider down there, the name escapes me. I pulled my covers up to my nose and drifted off...after a lengthy chit chat into dreamland. And boy did I dream. I dreamt that I was levitating. When I awoke in the morning it still did not dust off the feeling that the sunshine usually does to dreams. But I had not moved in the night, not tossed or turned...my coat was still lying on my bed exactly where I had placed it. I had not even moved a leg muscle. My sister awakened round the same time as I. I flung my feet over the side and we discussed the aura of the place and the time we had last night. I looked down at the carpet and there was the garbage bin that my sister had moved the evening before. It was moved exactly to where I had tipped it over the day before. We came to the realization that 'I thought you tipped it' no "I thought you tipped it" and then noticed that my shoes that I had flung off the night before at the foot of the bed, (By the door) were perfectly lined up in front of my bed. Feet lined up, neatly together. The phone my sister had used the evening before had moved over as well. "Did you put my shoes like this?" I asked. Then the realization dawned on us. Yesterday, I had worn my sisters sandals as they were lined up like this as well...perfectly together. My sister sensing something about the room finally spoke up. "we have a little poltergeist playing with us" She had felt a 'cold spot' between our beds. Sure enough, reaching out my hand to the area between our beds, I too felt 'coolness'! All the activity seemed to be centered around this particular spot. The garbage can, the shoes, the telephone.
We proceeded to get ready and check out as soon as we could. We were both in the bathroom getting ready when we both came out and saw that once again, the shoes had moved! My shoes were facing the opposite way and my sisters shoes were now lined up! We decided to document the situation as no one back home would believe us! We video taped the shoes in the present position. And decided it would be best if we got out of here as soon as we could. Other strange things such as my watch stopping at 00:13, my camera case had been hung up over the doorknob. ( I Had not put it there) and those shoes moving! IT was too much. I commented, Good old room 12b. That's when my sister spoke up, "this isn’t room 12b, it's room 13!" To prove this we headed out into the hall and checked the other room numbers...room 12 a, then us in room 12b, then room 14 followed, room 15 all the way down the hall We videotaped this)....We were staying in room 13! We came back down the hall to our room, (I had left the door ajar not to lock ourselves out) and the shoes had moved again.! My sister splashes powder on herself in the morning and had spilled some on the rug. There was now a footprint in the powder. Thinking maybe one of us had stepped in the powder by accident we tried both of our feet in the print between the 2 beds..(you guessed it, the same spot where all the other activity had happened) It was too large to be either of ours! We also videotaped that the shoes had moved yet again since we had last been in the room only minutes before. My sister, Brenda got the impression that all this activity was centered around me. So I said take a picture of me sitting here on the bed. She did, and through the whole trip, with all the photos we took, this particular photo is the only one with 'white' splotches on the print and negative! We checked out and drove away to visit the caves...the cats on the grounds seemed to be watching us, there were at least a dozen of them around. We would not have stayed there another night. Especially not in Room 12b. Check it out for yourself. Make sure you have film in your camera, be careful not to tip over any garbage pails, be nice to the thing caged in the pen on the path down the hill and, whatever you do, take a pair of sensible shoes!

Same Hotel Slightly different story
My last haunted stop turned out to be the Waitomo Caves Hotel. It was originally built in 1908. A popular tourist destination even then because of the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, another wing was added in 1928. I had heard they were haunted from a friend who runs a website on New Zealand ghosts  Canadian tourists spoke of strange happenings in room 12A. However, the management denied any such activity.
I checked into room 10, which I was pleased to see was part of the old building and close to the reputedly haunted 12A. I took a walk around the building, and noticed inexplicably high tri-field meter readings of 2-3 outside of 12A (which was empty at the time). The same location later read less than ½. Most of the second floor, other than near the fuse boxes, read less than 1-1 ½. I had some high readings around 5 in the middle of the lobby (away from any obvious sources) and in the hallway to a TV room.
It was while relaxing in my room that the most interesting thing happened. After being shut for several minutes, my door smoothly and silently opened. I didn’t think much about it the first time. After all, it was an old building, and I realized I may not have gotten the latch quite caught. So I got up and shut the door firmly again. I went to the other side of the room to unpack. Suddenly, I had a feeling that something had happened. Turning around, I saw the door was again standing open. At this point, my curiosity and suspicion were aroused. Taking the trifield meter with me, I carefully shut the door. This time, I stood and watched to see what would happen. The door remained shut for approximately three minutes while I watched. Then it silently and smoothly opened. I did not get an elevated trifield meter, but had to admit that I felt something was playing games with me. The door opened two more times, apparently on its own, later that afternoon but then behaved and remained shut for the remainder of my stay.
I spent some time talking to both the manager and the night reception desk clerk later that evening. The latter told me that her predecessor spoke of doors that opened themselves, and others that should have been opened that seemed to be locked, and also of seeing figures in the old ballroom (now re-decorated as a dining room). She also mentioned that she and other staff are extremely uneasy in a back corridor, where a man is said to have committed suicide. However, not all of the Waitomo ghosts were said to be unpleasant ones. After a hotel maintenance worker died of natural causes, several staff members reported seeing his ghost and feeling very comfortable, like he was watching over them.

News just in on the Waitomo Caves Hotel
12-01-2005

Dear Ghost Hunter
I wish I had read your article sooner.
This New Year my partner and I booked 2 days holiday at the Waitomo Hotel - The photos looked nice, and my partner told me he wanted luxury.
We were given Room 7 which was a very small version of a double bedroom, with a rotten floorboard in the bathroom.= Bad luck.
Later we went down for dinner and were told there was no vacancies - although the dinning room was only half full = Double Bad luck.
We went to bed early as there was nothing else to do. Then ALL NIGHT we had heavy footsteps walking across the head of our bed on the floor above.
The ceiling kept creaking as the footsteps continued all night. We were wondering when the body would actually fall through our creaking ceiling. This gave us little chance to sleep that night. = Triple Bad luck
The next morning we were given cold coffee for breakfast = Quadruple Bad luck
so by lunchtime we thought we had better not push out luck any further, so we packed up and left - one day early, rather than risk the chance of more misadventures and bad luck.
Please note - 3rd & 4th January 2005 - At this stage we had no idea that this Hotel is known to be haunted.
But since - already two people have informed me of this fact , so I have endeavoured to find out the truth on the internet - and now I feel really spooked.

Hey Greyghost,
Just wondering if you have any storys or ANYTHING to do with
Ghosts in New Plymouth?

Barrett Street Hospital

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9WQ0--Lblo

We have this old hospital that looks very haunted and people have claimed to feel uneasy there... I have been there at night and there is a old building that used to be where some tunnel or something... It's blocked up now but the temprature around there drops so rapidly that on a nice summers night you can see your own breath! I have taken many girls there and scared them with this but there is no way i can explain it.
I plan to look up some history in this old place as my mum used to work there and once found someone who had hung themselves in the showers.
This is one haunted place i'm sure. Just waiting to be unlocked! Please if you have any information or know anywhere that can help me with my little project i would be glad to hear it.
Thanks for providing a great source of information on Ghosts and haunting.
Look forward to hearing back from you.
Alastair.

Rotorua Story by Haggis

The events that took place!

Some years ago I purchased a nice wee 2 bedroomed house in Rotorua  for myself to live in and all was well for a few years then suddenly some strange things started to happen.

It started one night some hours after I had gone to bed. My bedroom was at the other end of the house to the lounge and about 2 am I was woken by the sounds of people talking and differed colored lights shining at my door.

The Bathroom door was opposite  my bedroom and I thought that the neighbors were having a party so would just get up and close the door, but when I looked across at the bathroom I found that the talking and lights were not coming from there but from the Lounge down the hall.

I walked down the hall  to the Lounge and as I did the talking got less as I walked. When I got into the Lounge I found my TV was turned on, I said “ What the F…!

I turned on the light and looked at the TV on and looked at my dog who slept in the lounge at that time who was sitting at the opposite  end of the lounge to the TV.

My TV was an old small one at the time and when you turn it on it comes on at a low level, and when you turn it up then turn it off it will come back on at low level again.

The really strange thing is that there is no way the TV can be heard from my Bedroom once turned on, yet its volume was up and turning down as went to the lounge.

Also the colored lights from it I could see at my door and where the TV was in the Lounge was away round the corner from the hall.

My dog can’t use a TV remote so this was the first strange event and have to say that after that from that night on the dog slept in my room.

I can’t remember in what order the next things happened next, just that they happened.

I Had said to some friends of mine that they could borrow my trailer, just to go get it. Well later that night I called them from work to see if they had picked it up and they said “ yes” and that they thought I was home because my Bedroom light was on, I said “ No am at work” When I got home that night the light was off.

I called my friends to say light was off when I got home and they both said it was on when they were there!

I once came home to find the sliding door onto the Deck from my Bedroom slightly open, I always check that the house is totally locked up before I go out and also have a security alarm inside.

No one had been in because the alarm would have been set off and dog was outside.

One afternoon I had gone to sit on my bed to call  my  partner for a chat and had taken a glass of water with me.

During our chat I was talking then said “What the hell”, and wiped the side of my face with my had to find it had just been splashed with a wee bit of water, like it had been flicked in my face.

I looked at the roof first to see if it was leaking, it wasn’t even raining!

I looked at the glass of water and well it was just sitting there but I got splashed with water.

Another time I had my boys there and at the time they were quite young. It was a Saturday afternoon if I remember, a hot clear still day, no wind.

They were both in the lounge and I said “ We’re  going out so go to the toilet now before we go”. I finished sorting a couple of things and went about the house locking up and as I got to the toilet door to go in and close the window, the door that was only about 6 niches open closed in my face, it didn’t just get blown closed, it closed slowly. It closed till it got to the part where you have to push the door harder to close it correctly, well it paused for a second then  shut tight.

I thought “ Oh man now you go to the toilet” So I knocked on the door and said  “close the window when you come out” and walked into the Lounge too find both my boys sitting on the floor playing.

Well I just stopped and looked at them, then went back to the Toilet and pushed the door open slowly. I looked behind the door and found nothing.

I even pulled the door too again and tested it for any wind that might be coming from the window but not even a slight breeze, there was no wind about outside that day that could have closed it the way it did.

I have a gate to my property and when I lived there you couldn’t get in without my dog knowing someone was there and would always bark, weather she was inside or out.

At one time I had an old Honda 400 bike locked in my carport outside my Bedroom window. That night while I was asleep the bike was pulled away from the wall because the next morning that’s how I found it.

My dog had slept on the floor in my room that night and anyone getting on the property would have woken her as she is an alert German Shepherd Huntaway X  and she never heard a thing.

As I said it was a heavy bike and if someone was stealing it, why would they take the trouble of standing it back up on the center stand( which is not an easy thing to do on heavy bikes) in the pitch dark, after finding out they couldn’t  take it or would they just drop it and run?! I guess just another strange thing.

I had my daughter living with me for a while and I decided not to tell her about what has been happening in the house because if I did then maybe she would not want to come and live there and maybe she won’t notice anything anyway.

One evening she had gone to bed and I was in the lounge on my computer and the dog was on the floor, the curtains were drawn, when at about 11pm there came a rapping that sounded like a key being tapped quite loud  on the sliding door outside. I jumped because all was quiet and the dog jumped up barking.

First thing I thought was it was her boyfriend coming round to see her and thinking, “ its abit late at 11pm to be coming round.”

I had a security light that was on the deck and as soon as you walked in the gate it would come on and there is no way you can get to the deck without it being activated and it was working fine.

I looked out of the curtains expecting to see someone standing at the door, instead there was no one, nothing, the security light hadn’t even come on.

I only have a small section and the fencers are quite high.

I then turned on the outside deck light and opened the sliding door, as soon as I walked onto the deck from inside the security light came on.

The gate was still closed and no one was about. Something tapped on the window, made the dog bark and never set off the outside security light.

That shook me abit!

I have an inside security alarm also and I have been called home on a couple of times  because the alarm has been set off but each time there has been no forced entry and all was locked.

I called the company that installed it and told them that this had happened and he asked me if I had a cat left inside and I said “ no only have a dog and she is outside when I’m  out”

He told me it would have to be something quite large to set it off, not a bug walking over it or something like that.

I made a comment saying with a laugh, “ maybe it was a ghost”!

Well I thought he would have at this point laughed at me but he said that he wouldn’t rule that out, so I asked him why was that?

He said that they had installed a security  system in a shop and sometimes it would be set off but no one had broken in so the owners wanted it checked but still it went off so they installed security cameras from the top of the stairs and down in the shop and what they picked up was an Orb  that started at the top of the stairs and went down into the shop, setting off the alarm system.

He said he viewed the tap and found it somewhat interesting  but they had to hand it into the insurance company as evidence, so I believe that’s what the cause was.

I also told him about the TV being turned and could that have been done from another house nearby, he said  “No not at all, with these older TVs you have to be literally standing in front of them to make it work”

The last  time when I got called home because the Alarm went off again, my Daughter  was living with me and when I got home she was outside the gate, I asked her if she had set the alarm off and she said “No” and she had just come home to find it going and she said she went around to the back door to go in but when she was passing the toilet window she said the light went, that’s why she thought someone was in the house and  left the property.

When she said this I went straight to the back  door and opened it, it was still locked so were all the other doors and windows and the toilet light was now off.

So again a light was turned on and off from inside the house.

A short time later one morning my Daughter came into my room saying “Dad we have a Ghost”! I said why do you think that?

She said that she had seen a Maori  guy sitting on our deck a couple of times. She said she had  thought that we had had a Ghost in the place for a while because of a couple of things.

I said “well I wasn’t going to tell you because I didn’t want you to get scared or want you to leave” but she said she was ok with it and it didn’t scare her.

She knew the people who lived across the from us who knew the people who built the house as it was only about 20 years old and they said no one had died in the house so how we came to have our visitor we have no idea but it or he has moved on now, about a year before I moved out so all is  good again.
